golf putting secrets

Some Golf Putting Pointers

How often are you frustratingly close to sinking an important putt just to come up short?

Or maybe you have only just missed the pin to see your golf ball go crusing past adding an excessive amount of distance for your returning golf putt.

Lots of games are usually lost on the putting green and in most instances it has been because of the incorrect distance, rather than the direction of the golf ball.

Many novices rapidly obtain a feel for the direction the golf ball will travel, even on sloping greens.

You've most likely observed it for yourself when a beginner to the golf game strikes the ball within just inches of the hole on the sloping green again and again.

What you do not view quite so often is the ball stopping one or two inches past the hole after they miss.

There are several things that will come in to account as you're identifying the distance a ball will travel on the green, to the slope, to the preparation of the golf green along with whether or not this is wet and slow or dry and fast.

It will make a tremendous difference depending on the time of the day with the greens becoming quicker while they dry off in the afternoon sun.

Therefore reading the distance of a golf putt is actually precisely what you really should concentrate on for you to get your golf ball to drop in that golf hole.

Again all this comes back to practice and there is absolutely no more effective practice than on the day of the tournament with the conditions you happen to be playing in.

Make sure you make an effort to have some practice putts just before you start play to 'dial in' your distance.

A very important factor you have to make sure you understand; the golf ball will never fall if it does not reach the hole.

Sounds very clear to even need talking about doesn't it, however , more often than not putts will come up short.

Always shoot for the back of the hole so that, provided you have your path right, you will have a possibility of making the putt.

Why is My Golf Swing Speed Important?
By Rob Jeffries

Because golf is in many ways a man's sport, there is a certain macho aspect to it. Men appreciate other men who hit the ball long and hard and straight and don't really pay much attention to the players who use finesse and guile to get the ball in the hole. They think better of a player who drives 300 yards than they do someone who shoots 70. That's just the way it is.

If you want to be one of the guys who drive it 300 yards, then you have to increase your golf swing speed - there is just no way about it. But, that doesn't mean that you have to go in hyper-mode throughout your entire swing. If you watch any of the pro golfers, their backswing is not fast, it is slow and deliberate, but they accelerate through the swing at such a speed that you can hear the club whip through the air. When you watch their swing in slow motion, you can actually see their club arcing, as the force bends the shaft.

Your golf swing speed in part determines the flight of your ball. However, that doesn't mean that the guy with the fastest swing will hit it the furthest! There is much more to it than that. You have to be able to make perfect contact with the ball, hitting it on the sweet spot and making contact with just the right part of the club. Any variation and you will not be successful.

Golf swing speed can be measured in most of the larger sporting goods stores. They will be able to measure your swing speed at the fastest point, which should be just when you make contact. From that information, you should be able to determine the type of shafts and balls you should play with.
